Tourism in Seyðisfjörður has developed with a focus on history, arts and culture.
Skaftfell – Center fo Visual art. Skaftfell is dedicated to nurturing and exhibiting visual art, the main emphasis being on contemporary art. Skaftfell is a meeting point for artists and locals and serves as a center for visual art in all east-Iceland.
An arts festival, Á seyði, begins each June. The programme includes a wide variety of arts events: LungA is an arts festival of young people in East Iceland, at which young people spend five days workings with artists in design, drama, visual arts, music, photography etc; Karlinn í tunglinu (Man in the Moon) is an international children's art project; in addition there are children's arts days, concerts, Norwegian Days, readings by authors, and Bláa kirkjan (the Blue Church), a series of summer concerts by well-known Icelandic and foreign musicians in Seyðisfjörður Church.
Local artists gallerí Skálinn is open for gests daily and by request, all year round. Art work for sale and one can see the artist at work. The gallerí is situated in an old petrol station next to the church in town.
